Radiating Self

Healing from self-repression is a challenging feat. After years spent hiding, you find yourself intimidated by the lingering public perception. Often, we live our whole life hiding behind our role-self. Clothed in the mask that was carefully crafted by society. Fitting us into a perfect mold. Shielding our faces from the light of God.

The beauty of our true self becomes lost in earthly desires. Whether these desires are formed from within, or imposed on us by society, they all have the potential to work towards taking our sight away from God.

The fight to remove the mask that has consumed our true self is a strenuous battle. Every piece removed feels like the rip of a bandage. While on the exterior you are faced with the looming peril of public perception.

What will society think if I reveal my true self? My God given self.

To win the battle, the fear of public perception must be overcome. This is critical in keeping us cloaked inside of our role-self. Rather than our first thought be on the perception of the public, we should consider ‘is this serving my true self that God intended me to be?’ or ‘am I utilizing my free will to guide myself further away from my true self by satisfying the needs of others?’

We are called to reject the world and live a life in Christ. Our true identity found through embracing the Holy Spirit living within us. Radiating upon our face.

Jesus saw a tax collector named Levi sitting at the customs post. He said to him, “Follow me.” And leaving everything behind, he got up and followed him.
