Beyond a Face

As I have further stumbled along the path of my photography journey, it has been gently revealed to me that my goals transcend beyond egocentric desires. Beyond material or monetary desires. My purpose goes beyond the surface; rather, upon my examination of conscious, my primary question has developed into ‘how can I intersect the graces God has granted me with my passion for art, composition, and storytelling?’

How can I use the interests and skills that I have been endowed with to highlight the depths of our soul? Primarily, for portraiture commissions, how can I show my subject in the light of God. For many, this question remains uncharted territory. Modern technology has increased our accessibility to portraiture photography, providing resources at our very fingertips. Yet, how does a simple selfie differ from a commissioned portraiture session?

Through studio-based portraiture sessions, the subject is set in an intimate and comfortable environment. For those who considered themselves far from comfortable sitting in front of a camera, the environment is critical to the process. Making clients feel comfortable allows their vulnerabilities to permeate any barriers and walls they have built up to the outside world. Revealing a truly raw version of the self. Allowing the subject to radiate in their God given light, often something that has been concealed by many layers. An opportunity to reveal their story.
